By using multiple elements, made of low dispersion optical glass, which are large in diameter and require great craftsmanship in their manufacturing, SIGMA has managed to significantly reduce the size of the lens without the use of diffractive optical elements.
At the same time, the lens has achieved a high resolving power that meets all expectations of a 500mm prime lens.

The lens body, mainly composed of high-precision synthetic material parts, has excellent build quality and resistance to weather, dust and splashes*, despite its compact size.

HLA enables fast and precise autofocus, even in ultra-telephoto shots such as sports and birds, where extremely precise focusing is required.

The latest OS2 optical stabilization algorithm reaches up to 5.0 stops* of correction.
The lens features a two-mode operating system: Mode 1 is suitable for general shooting and Mode 2 is ideal for panning shots of motorsports and other sports.
In mode 2, the SIGMA intelligent operating system algorithm specially designed for panning shots offers effective image stabilization even when the camera is moved vertically or diagonally, regardless of horizontal or vertical orientation.
This ensures that the subject's movement can be captured without losing the panning effect.
