The FE 28-70mm F2 GM is the first G Master series standard zoom lens with a constant F2 aperture.
Ideal for both stills and video, it is synonymous with creative versatility.
Sophisticated design and advanced optical simulation for a zoom comparable to a prime lensii in terms of quality and performance.
It features three XA (extreme aspherical) elements, manufactured using proprietary techniques to ensure high corner-to-corner resolution with an F2 aperture throughout the entire focal length range.
The floating focus system maintains sharpness even at close ranges of up to 0.38 m.

Optimal sharpness is ensured by optics designed to suppress internal reflections, combined with Sony's exclusive Nano AR Coating II to minimize reflections and flare, even under strong light sources.
G Master optics enable images with extraordinary depth, with smooth, delicate background blur, thanks to spherical aberration carefully controlled in both the design and manufacturing stages, XA elements and a new 11-blade aperture unit.

Four XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors and an industry-leading algorithm precisely control the focus group even in the most dynamic moments, ensuring reliable tracking and instant response - essential for fast-paced shooting scenarios such as weddings or sporting events.
When mounted on Sony's a9 III camera, the lens supports high-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking at up to 120 frames per secondii, even while zooming.

The XD linear motors and the new aperture unit are surprisingly quiet and support the compensation of the "breathing" effect with the image stabilization system in the "Active Mode" of the av series cameras.
