The CR-X300 sports many features of a Canon camcorder such as a dual-pixel 1 / 2.3 "CMOS sensor, hybrid AF, Canon DIG! C DV6 image processor, scene mode, IR (infrared) mode, optical zoom 20x, 20x zoom, built-in waterproof and up to UHD 4K video capture and output.

The PTZ camera differs from camcorders by its remote assets such as control via IP and RS-422, as well as HDMI, 6G-SDI and IP streaming outputs and compatibility with the Canon RC-IP100 IP PTZ remote control. Perform smooth, precise pan, tilt and zoom movements with a speed range of 0.3 to 60 degrees per second.

The camera can also be powered via PoE ++ (Power-over-Ethernet) using its LAN port, so it can adapt directly to the network PoE + can require without requiring the use of local power for cabling. The camera supports a wide dynamic range, minimum illumination of 3 lux, and its lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length from 30.5 to 627mm.

The camera can use an external controller via RS-422 / VISCA or Canon's proprietary IP XC protocol over a private and secure LAN, using the optional RC-IP100 PTZ controller. Or, if you prefer to use Canon's camera control software, the free downloadable application can run on the Windows operating system, so you can control all camera functions from a laptop or tablet. The software provides 9x9 live viewing, control of up to 100 cameras, uploading and configuring settings, and counting functions.
