The new ZEISS Milvus 1.4 / 85 lens is particularly suitable for shooting portraits. This lens is a must if you want to create compositions where the main subject is defined and emphasized against a beautiful bokeh background. The purely spherical optical design and the use of special types of glass ensure optimal micro-contrast and extremely low chromatic aberration. The result: stunning photos every time, thanks to the bokeh sample.

Design
The well-known symmetrical lens design was devised by Dr. Paul Rudolph at Carl Zeiss in 1896. The Planar has the most successful camera lens design ever created, and still the most imitated. It is equipped with numerous features that allow you to correct aberrations in an optimal way. Its performance is consistent over a wide range of image ratios, thus making a variety of versatile lenses such as the Makro-Planar possible.

Features

Stunning images, even in low light
All lenses feature ZEISS T * ® anti-reflection coating. The incredible reduction of scattered light is achieved thanks to the combination of several perfectly harmonized measures. In addition to the ZEISS T * treatment, all edges of the lenses have a lacquered black color achieved by a complex manual process. To avoid reflections, light traps have been integrated into the mechanical components and specially designed surfaces. Each focal length has its own optical design, thanks to the use of special glasses that allow visualization of the anomalous partial dispersion. In this way, halos are possible to an absolute minimum in the case of subjects with high contrast edges.

Future-proof solution for high resolution camera systems
The excellent performance of the ZEISS Milvus lens meets the requirements of today's and future high-performance digital cameras. Thanks to the low scattered light provided by the design of this lens, it is possible to take high-contrast images by increasing the highly dynamic range of the sensors (HDR). Coma, astigmatism and minimal spherical aberrations allow a constant high resolution of the entire image field. The lens is designed to ensure full utilization of the performance offered by high resolution camera systems. No matter what the future holds, the ZEISS Milvus lens is ready to use anytime, anywhere.

Creative photos and videos thanks to highly precise manual focus
Manually focusing a lens involves controlling and thus actively creating an image using your fingers delicately and precisely. Here, good design ergonomics make the difference. The ZEISS Milvus lens offers a wide angle of rotation that allows for pinpoint focusing. The superior quality focusing mechanism moves smoothly, optimally supporting the photographer's creative interaction, with a focal plane of fixed focal lengths at high speed. The changes are immediately visible in the viewfinder or on the display. The engraving in meters and feet and the focusing scale represent an additional support for manual focusing. The continuous and silent aperture adjustment (DeClick function with ZF.2 mount) and the long focusing range establish the optimal conditions for video shooting.
A durable product with protection from environmental influences
An optimized ergonomic design allows for easy photography and reduces camera shake. The metal housing makes every adjustment an epic experience. The dynamic and precise cylinder design marks the beginning of new trends in the world of camera lenses. However, ZEISS Milvus lenses are not only extraordinary in their visual and optical excellence, they also excel in internal qualities. The special seals that protect against splashes and dust, expand the creative potential of the photographer, while ensuring the functional reliability of the system even in difficult environmental conditions.
