Zoom's R12 MultiTrak captures the power and immediacy of classic 8-track recorders with the welcome addition of modern updates such as touchscreen track editing. The R12 MultiTrak is great for capturing ideas, snippets, and even whole songs without the complicated setup of DAWs, computers, and other equipment. Easily connects to microphones, instruments or line-level devices such as keyboards and mixers via two TRS / XLR combo jacks and can record up to eight tracks per project. Bringing your song ideas to life is easy - use your own instruments or try the R12's powerful preloaded drum machine, built-in effects and patch options.

Hardware recorders in the past often relied on clunky editing systems that bogged down artists with entering timestamps and complex button sequences. The R12 does away with this by incorporating useful DAW-like drag-and-drop editing features that simplify the experience. A color LCD touchscreen interface lets you cut, copy, loop and edit your songs with speed and precision like never before.
The R12's editing workflow works much like a typical DAW, but the R12 has the distinct advantage of straightforward, reliable performance with fewer distractions and potential points of failure than your regular computer rig. In addition to recording and editing, the R12 also lets you fine-tune tracks with classic studio instruments. Options include stereo pan, 3-band EQ and effects such as reverb, delay and chorus are available, as well as the option to compress the input signal on inputs 1 and 2. Of course, you can store, create and patch more effects. Also included are 40 preset patches, plus the ability to create new patches using Zoom's Guitar Lab on an external device.

More than just a recorder, the R12 lets you enrich and enhance your tracks with a built-in drum machine and synthesizer. The drum machine offers 150 different drum loops in 30 different genres, conveniently divided into song structure units that make the application a breeze.
The built-in synthesizer is ideal for adding melody, atmosphere and depth to full songs and demos alike. Control it using the R12's touchscreen or connect an external keyboard via USB for an authentic feel and even more control.
With a trio of power options, the R12 is extremely portable. Four AA batteries will power the unit for approximately five hours, making it perfect for field use. An additional set of batteries or a USB battery pack is sufficient to ensure long-lasting performance suited to marathon creativity and mobile use. For household bodies, an R12 wall power supply is available separately
