GP-E2

The Canon GP-E2 GPS Receiver records GPS information such as longitude, latitude, altitude, bearing and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) as EXIF data on photo files using a compatible EOS camera. This lightweight and compact unit can also double as an electronic compass or standalone GPS recorder. It is designed for the EOS system and offers USB and hot-shoe connections with EOS 5D Mark III and EOS-1D X (USB connection only with EOS 7D). It is also compatible with Vixia HF G60 UHD and Rebel T5i via USB, as well as EOS Rebel T4i and Rebel SL1 via the digital terminal on each camera.

The GP-E2 offers the same level of dust and weather resistance as the EOS 5D Mark III when attached to the camera's hot shoe. Dust and weather resistance decreases when connected to the camera via the USB cable. For simple and accurate recording of time and location information, the GP-E2 is an ideal complement to the EOS system.

When using EOS 7D with GP-E2, the following restrictions apply: a) the geotagging function does not work for movies while recording; b) geotagging functions will not work for movies when using Map Utility; c) electronic compass information and automatic time setting are not available; d) Hot shoe transmission is not possible.
