Macro lenses on the market tend to have a long focal length (from 60mm to 120mm) and the subject occupies most of the frame, isolated from the surrounding environment.
The Laowa 24mm, on the other hand, allows you to focus really close (2cm @ 2:1), while showing a lot of detail and texture. At the same time, it is possible to enjoy a wide angle view (84.1°) so more details of the environment can be included in the shot. Thus, it is possible to create more information-rich images with perspectives that no other lens can achieve.
The ability to focus so closely allows for so many shooting possibilities.

With Laowa Probe it is possible to reach the maximum magnification of 2:1, it allows to portray really small insects and reveal details not visible to the naked eye. It is particularly useful for videographers because both the smallest details and the environment can be captured in a single shot.

This wide angle design also means greater depth of field at short distances (compared to tele macro lenses). This is a great advantage for both stusio (table top) shots and nature shots.

The particular design of the Laowa 24mm, with its 40cm long barrel, allows you to bring the optics very close to the subject while remaining distant. Imagine how convenient it is to shoot a frog in the pond being able to hide behind a bush, instead of having to show up to get close to the subject or have it partially covered by the bush where you are hiding.
Furthermore, the small diameter allows you to enter small spaces that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Another example is the shooting of dangerous snakes. The length of the barrel allows us to remain at a safe distance, and the dimensions of the optics do not alarm the subject.

In a video perspective, the tubular lens allows you to shoot shots in very small areas, for example between the candles on a cake or inside the neck of a bottle.

The Laowa 24mm also features an LED ring light on the front of the lens to assist in focusing.

Waterproof: to make the lens even more versatile, the front part of the barrel is waterproof, to allow shooting under the surface of the water.
This guard is also a shield against dust and fine sand. (the waterproof cover is not removable).

The Laowa 24mm f/14 has a circle coverage compatible with 35mm Full Frame and Super35mm sensors.

In spite of its particular appearance and many features, Laowa 24mmf/14 is super light and easy to carry: it weighs only 474gr.
