Both lenses combine a fixed working distance, an internal parfocal zoom, and an APO optical design, offering a more precise, efficient, and intuitive shooting experience compared to traditional variable-magnification macro lenses.

With the Laowa Aksen 17.5mm f/1.7 5–10× Ultra Macro APO, Laowa brings full-frame macro photography into the realm of microscopic detail.
Designed to offer magnifications ranging from 5× to 10×, the lens represents a high-performance, native solution for those wishing to push beyond the traditional limits of macro photography.
The adjustable aperture (f/1.7 to f/5.6) also allows you to make the most of available light, even at such extreme magnifications.
Internal parfocal zoom
With traditional variable-magnification macro lenses, changing the magnification ratio can require repositioning the camera, adjusting the working distance, and reconfiguring the lighting.
The Aksen series eliminates this issue thanks to fixed working distances—40.35 mm and 22.48 mm, respectively—and an internal parfocal zoom system.
You can therefore increase or decrease magnification simply by turning the zoom ring, keeping the subject in focus while the lens's physical position remains unchanged. The result is a faster, more efficient workflow, with consistent composition and lighting throughout the entire shooting sequence.
The lens barrel does not extend or retract, making it easier to work in space-constrained setups.
