The anamorphic system allows videographers to obtain widescreen images from a standard recording medium, giving movies a more cinematic look: you get an image ratio of 2.4: 1 on a 16: 9 sensor.

The alternative way of achieving this ratio is to crop the image by losing pixels.
Anamorphic optics give the image characteristics such as side flare and oval bokeh.
They are always used on large budget films.

The Laowa Nanomorph series is designed for Super35 and M43 sensors. Anamorphic optics are called "Nano" as they are extremely small and light, while "Morph" stands for anamorphic.
The range includes 3 focal lengths: 27mm T2.8, 35mm T2.4 and 50mm T2.4.

The anamorphic design has a 1.5X ratio over the entire focusing range.
Three versions of each lens are available, featuring different flare colors - amber, blue and silver - to suit different film genres or the preferences of cinematographers and cameramen. The closest focusing distance allows for an accentuated oval bokeh and creates a greater sense of space coverage.

Available in different bindings: Canon EF / Arri PL, Canon R, Sony E, M43, DJI DL, Nikon Z, L mount and Fuji X.
The EF / PL version is supplied with the PL bayonet mounted and with the EF bayonet included in the package.
The mirrorless versions (Sony E, Fuji X, Canon RF, Nikon Z, L Mount, MFT, DJI DL), provide the possibility of easily replacing the bayonet, purchasing it separately.

Features:

1. Patented anamorphic optical design

2. Unprecedented compactness

3. 1.5x constant anamorphic compression ratio

4. Pleasant oval bokeh

5. Amber, blue, silver flare options

6. Short minimum focusing distance

7. Available for Sony E, Fuji X, Canon RF, Nikon Z, L Mount, MFT, DJI DL

8. Professional film body

Patented anamorphic design

Anamorphic optics consist of spherical and cylindrical elements
In the optical design of some cheap anamorphic optics cylinders are added to the front and spherical elements are positioned at the rear for focusing. This causes the anamorphic compression ratio to change when the focus point is changed, causing unwanted effects, such as the actors' faces widening when they are shot up close.
For professional anamorphic optics a more consistent optical design is required which leads to a very high cost. Furthermore, the size and weight of these optics tend to be very important.
In light of this, Laowa introduces its own anamorphic design to ensure a uniform anamorphic compression ratio and enable optical quality that solves the challenges of every anamorphic lens user.
Laowa repositions the lens element groups which are arranged in [spherical glasses + focusing system + cylindrical glasses + spherical glasses]. Group 1 and focusing system compress images and thus smaller cylindrical blocks can be used, making the lens smaller and more compact. Also, the image is formed and focused before the cylindrical blocks. The images projected onto the cylinders remain the same, so a constant anamorphic compression ratio can be maintained even as the subject approaches for closer focus.
