° Patented anamorphic design
Laowa Proteus is composed of anamorphic and spherical groups, offering both modern image sharpness and vintage anamorphic characteristics, such as elliptical bokeh and characteristic flares.

° Constant anamorphic compression ratio
Both anamorphic and spherical groups are fixed; a variable front spherical glass is added to achieve focus.
A similar optical design is used in the Vantage Hawks, Cooke Anamorphic and Atlas Orion.
With a 2X compression ratio, you will have 2.66:1 on a 4:3 sensor and 2.4:1 on a 6:5 sensor after decompression.
Thus, an aspect ratio of 2.39:1 can be cropped, providing an ultra-widescreen cinematic look that is highly demanded by the film industry.
The compression ratio remains constant at any focusing distance to avoid anamorphic distortion.

The flare of the silver version changes color depending on the light source.
The colors of the flare are indicated on each lens body under the focal length.
