The FE 16mm F1.8 G (SEL16F18G) lens combines the expressive power of a high-resolution ultra-wide angle with the high portability offered by a compact and lightweight design, making it perfect for a wide range of shooting and video applications. When paired with Sony's latest Alpha™ series cameras, the new lens is ideal for landscape and architectural shots, starry skies and more, while also offering stunning close-ups and precise, quiet autofocus.

16mm wide angle with excellent resolving power
The FE 16mm F1.8 G lens is ideal for creating expansive and dynamic perspectives. Its advanced optical design features two AA (Advanced Aspherical) elements that ensure impeccable image resolution throughout the entire aperture range.
In addition, one Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element and three ED elements effectively suppress chromatic aberrations all the way to the edges of the image, while flare and reflections are minimized thanks to an optimized special coating.

Extraordinary bokeh and close-ups
Thanks to the F1.8 maximum aperture and 11-blade circular diaphragm, the new G Lens enables enchanting bokeh effects.

The results in close-ups are also spectacular: the minimum focusing distance is 0.15 m with AF and 0.13 m with MF, with a maximum magnification ratio of 0.25x and 0.30x respectively.

All these features translate into unique wide-angle perspectives, enhanced by a soft and enveloping bokeh.

Ultra-wide-angle performance in a compact design
The integration of advanced aspherical elements, including Sony's high-precision AA (Advanced Aspherical) lenses, has enabled the creation of an ultra-wide-angle full-frame lens with a compact 73.8 x 75 mm size and a weight of just 304 g.
