The anamorphic system allows videographers to obtain widescreen images from a standard recording medium, giving their films a more cinematic look: an image ratio of 2.4:1 is achieved on a 16:9 sensor.
The alternative way to achieve this ratio is to crop the image, losing pixels.
Anamorphic lenses give the image characteristics such as edge flare and an oval bokeh.
They are always used on high-budget films.

The Laowa Nanomorph series is designed for Super35 and M43 sensors. Anamorphic lenses are called "Nano" because they are extremely small and lightweight, while "Morph" stands for anamorphic.
The range includes three focal lengths: 27mm T2.8, 35mm T2.4, and 50mm T2.4.
The anamorphic design has a 1.5x magnification ratio across the entire focusing range.
Three versions of each lens are available, each characterized by a different flare color—amber, blue, and silver—suitable for different filmmaking genres or the preferences of cinematographers and camera operators. The minimum focusing distance allows for a pronounced oval bokeh and creates a greater sense of spatial compression.
Available in various mounts: Canon EF/Arri PL, Canon R, Sony E, M43, DJI DL, Nikon Z, L Mount, and Fuji X.
The EF/PL version comes with the PL mount attached, and the EF mount is included in the package.
The mirrorless versions (Sony E, Fuji X, Canon RF, Nikon Z, L Mount, MFT, DJI DL) offer the option of easily swapping the mount, which can be purchased separately.

Unprecedented Compactness
The lenses weigh less than 400g each and are 10cm long.
Very useful for any setup, such as handheld, on a gimbal, tripod, slider, jib, or even a drone.
Not many anamorphic lenses can be lifted onto drones due to their weight.

Constant Anamorphic Compression Ratio
Constant anamorphic compression ratio across the entire focusing range prevents image shrinkage and stretching.
An anamorphic compression ratio of 1.5x is the perfect balance between size and anamorphic intensity.
With a 1.5x compression ratio, after decompression, you'll get a ratio of 2.66:1 on a 16:9 sensor. This leaves some room for cropping to a widescreen 2.4:1 ratio.
Instead, a ratio of 1.8x or 2x would generate a 3.2:1 and 3.5:1 image, which would require further cropping to get to 2.4:1. Part of the image would be wasted.
